Clifford M. Scholz, AIA – President


As founder and namesake of CMSA, Cliff brings over 35 years of experience in architecture and construction. His sense of design and clear-cut goals have guided his firm and created a reputation for quality and excellence. As lead architect, he is responsible for design and construction management for projects consisting of custom residential developments, office structures, commercial renovations, golf clubs and high-rise condominium buildings. He takes a proactive role in every project as the client contact, and directs his team of highly skilled professionals to keep every endeavor in balance.

Cliff is a very active member of the community and maintains memberships in the following organizations; Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture, NCARB, Chamber of Commerce of Sarasota County, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and is a Leadership Sarasota Alumni.

Cliff received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan, and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. Cliff is also a Licensed General Contractor in the State of Florida.

Larry W. Hale, CSI – Vice President

Drawn to the classical and traditional elements of architecture, Larry complements the team and enhances the overall design that has become a trademark of CMSA. Part of the firm since its inception in 1992, Larry has developed a team style that helps translate design characteristics and themes into construction. Bringing a diversified skill set to the mix, Larry is responsible for project management, codes and zoning, and production of construction documents for commercial renovations, custom residential developments, banking and church facilities. In addition, he has specialized expertise in the area of Florida American Disabilities Law.

Larry received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Larry is also a registered architect in the State of Colorado.

Mark D. McLean

Mark joins CMSA with a diverse background in residential and commercial architecture. As a Project Manager, his military background and technical experience allow Mark to follow the design of construction documents through to the permitting process.

David L. Ebinger

David joined CMSA in early 2007, and holds Associate Degrees in Computer Drafting and Board Drafting. With 30 years of experience, David is our Senior Draftsman, specializing in residential projects, and computer aided design of construction documents.

Steffani Drass

Steffani is an Intern, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Wisconsin in 2004. Steffani will provide design support as well as project management.

Sabrina C. Stanley

Sabrina is an Intern, and received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami in 2006. Sabrina will assist in project management, and design support for the production of construction documents.

Laura C. Mazzella

Laura joined CMSA in 2000 as Office Manager. With diversified experience in the area of accounting and office management, Laura has worked for many international companies handling a wide range of administrative duties. Her highly organized work style lends itself to the nature of an architecture firm as she maintains order and direction for the team. Laura received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
